Turn Lead-Generation Activity into a Clear Sales Work Queue
A lead-generation report can grow while the sales team’s usable work remains unchanged. The missing step is often acceptance: deciding which records support a specific next action and which require more information.
Define a record that can be accepted
Agree what the receiving team needs to act: the organisation or customer, request context, contact route and relevant eligibility. State what disqualifies a record and what places it on hold. Avoid a score that hides these unanswered questions behind a single number.
Separate ready, research and excluded queues
A clear request can be routed for response. A potentially suitable account with missing information belongs in research. An unsuitable or excluded record should carry the reason so another import does not repeatedly send it back to sales. Give each queue an owner and a review process.
Preserve the handover context
Keep the source, date, campaign and relevant conversation history with the work item. Do not force the salesperson to reconstruct the form or advertisement that prompted an enquiry. Salesforce’s documentation describes assignment rules and lead fields; make those controls reflect the handover you agreed.
Use rejected work to improve acquisition
Review which sources create missing details, wrong functions or unsuitable geography. Fix the form, targeting or acceptance definition that caused the problem. Compare accepted records with later relevant conversations and opportunities using a stated period. A work queue becomes useful when it is both actionable and correctable.
