Ask a Business to Stop Calling: Keep a Suppression Record

Removing a number from a company’s calling activity starts with a clear request to that business. Deleting the contact from your own phone does not alter the company’s records. Keep enough information to identify the number concerned and the marketing you want stopped, without sending unrelated identity documents.

Use the business’s established route

Find the contact or privacy route on the company’s genuine website rather than following an unfamiliar caller’s link. State the number and that you want marketing calls to stop. Keep account-service requirements separate if you still use the business’s services.

Retain a short request history

Save the date, recipient and response or reference number. If another call arrives, note when it happened and the business claimed by the caller. Caller ID may be spoofed, so record what was actually said rather than assuming the displayed number proves identity.

Understand the separate U.S. registry

For U.S. personal numbers, the FTC provides free National Do Not Call registration. That is separate from asking one company to suppress a number. Latest Mailing Database’s contact team can receive requests about its own records; it cannot erase every external calling list.
