Build a Professional Profile That Supports Your Work

A professional profile should explain what you do and give people a basis for trusting the description. Start with the work you want to be known for, then choose evidence that shows the relevant skills.

State the role precisely

Name the field, the tasks you handle and the people or organisations you help. Avoid listing every possible discipline when your experience is narrower. A short, accurate description is easier to assess than a string of claims such as leading expert or guaranteed results.

Select work that demonstrates the claim

Choose samples that show your contribution, the problem and the outcome you can substantiate. Remove confidential customer data and obtain permission where needed. If a project involved a team, explain your part instead of taking credit for the full result.

Keep profiles consistent

Use the same current name, role and business contact route across your own site and professional accounts. Update old positions and broken links. Consistency helps a reader connect the evidence, but creating more profiles is not a substitute for better work samples.

Give readers an appropriate next step

Offer a clear way to discuss a relevant project or read a more detailed case. Keep personal and business boundaries deliberate. Review the profile when your responsibilities change so a prospective client is not acting on an outdated description of your services.
