Ohio Unwanted Calls: Use the State’s Specific Reporting Option
Ohio’s Attorney General provides information and a reporting route for unwanted calls. If calls continue, record what happened and use the appropriate form. Repeatedly buying removal services is not a substitute for a documented complaint.
Review the official guidance
Open the Attorney General’s unwanted-call or complaint information directly. Its complaint page distinguishes an unwanted call from a consumer transaction dispute. Choose the route matching the incident rather than assuming every telephone problem is the same category.
Separate a known company from a suspicious caller
For a recognised business, use an established contact route to state that you do not want marketing calls. For a suspicious caller, avoid providing personal details or following instructions to pay for removal. Do not rely on caller ID as proof of identity.
Prepare a consistent incident record
Keep the call date, displayed number, organisation claimed and any requested callback number. Describe what was said without adding guesses about the technology or data source. Save prior preference requests if they are relevant to the report.
Manage interruptions separately
Review appropriate phone or carrier blocking controls while pursuing the complaint route. A local block does not establish deletion from the caller’s records. Latest Mailing Database does not control Ohio’s reporting system or guarantee that registration prevents every unwanted call.
