Better Business Bureau Alternatives: Separate Research from Accreditation
The Better Business Bureau provides several services, including business information, reviews and complaint routes. An alternative needs to address the particular task. A commercial contact file is not accreditation or a substitute for a complaint process.
Name the question about the business
Decide whether you need to confirm an organisation’s identity, review reported experiences or resolve a transaction issue. Use the appropriate evidence for each. A phone number and company name do not establish the quality of the business’s conduct.
Distinguish different records
Keep an accreditation status, a customer review and a complaint separate in your notes. Identify the source and date of each. Do not summarise unlike records as a single endorsement or assume that an absence of reviews proves reliability.
Use the relevant complaint channel
For a dispute, retain the order, messages and attempted resolution. Review the process and scope of the chosen organisation before submitting. A business directory does not necessarily investigate complaints or provide the same resolution route.
Keep contact data in its role
Latest Mailing Database does not confer BBB accreditation or act as its complaint service. If the task is commercial audience selection, write that separate brief. Compare sources against the business question and avoid presenting a contact listing as an official approval.
