Affiliation Marketing


This is a form of Internet advertising that allows individuals to market products from a company and get paid when they generate sales, leads or traffic to a website. Common terms used in affiliate marketing

Tracking pixel code or code: This is a small, transparent chart that accompanies each affiliate link and is intended for tracking performance.

Banner ad: A striking electronic ad that is placed on a website.
Cookies: Text files that allow affiliate software to track conversion origins and which banners or links get conversions. Tracking can also be done using unique identifiers of affiliates that are embedded in the ad.

Direct linking: Where affiliate links do not redirect but go to a landing page.
Email link: an affiliate link contained in an email signature or newsletter.
